There are pigs painted on Rialto Street/Pig Hill. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so charmed in all my life.
Rialto Street (also known as Pig Hill) is Pittsburgh’s 5th steepest street. It’s 370 feet long, with a 24% grade. Why Pig Hill? Because farmers would drive their pigs down this incredible slope toward the butchers along the river. Crazy to think of a swarm of pigs all descending Rialto Street at once.
The rectory of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Church. Formerly, the home of Suitbert Mollinger. (Also, right next door to my nightmare house!)
I declared this the “nightmare house.” And then I declared it my dream house on Troy Hill.
